Pagefile also call swap file or Virtual memory, are all the same thing. It is swapping data from physical memory (ram) to Virtual memory (swap file) back and fourth. Pagefile defrag is organizing the data in a consecutive order so it get access faster, since ram is 10 times faster than hard disk access, bigger and better organize is your swap file faster the computer will be. Registry defrag is also very important because the OS (operating system)access it very often. So paging file and Registry file fragmentation can be one of the leading causes of performance degradation related to file fragmentation in a computer. 
Normal defragmentation programs usually include in Windows can't show you how fragmented are your Registry hives or page file, nor they can't defragment them.

In some cases PageDefrag may be unable to reduce fragmentation on one or more of the files, and it will indicate so on the boot-time Blue Screen. This can happen either because there is not enough space on the drive for defragmentation, or the free space itself is highly fragmented. For the best results you should use PageDefrag in conjunction with a commercial defragmentation utility.
